Carmichael California |
The first known settlers in the area were the Maidu Indians dating back to 1,000 B.C. They were probably forced to leave the area when white settlers arrived in the early 1800's. The first new settlers of Carmichael were Charles W. and Mary A. Deterding. In 1907 they purchased a 425-acre site along the north bank of the American River.
Visitors and residents of the area can enjoy several area attractions including the Jensen Botanical Gardens, the Chautauqua Playhouse, the Ancil Hoffman Park, and the Effie Yeaw Nature Center.
Carmichael is located in Sacramento County just northeast of Sacramento between Rancho Cordova and Auburn along Interstate 80 near Folsom Lake.
