California House Site

The California House was the first hotel built in Solano County. It was constructed for Mayor Stephen Cooper, first mayor of Benicia, and was made of adobe bricks processed by Mr. Tustin, who also built the first house in Benicia.

The rebuilt structure contains interesting murals depicting Benicia's by-gone era. The west wall of the building appears to be part of the original adobe.
