Buck Meadows California

Buck Meadows was originally called "Hamilton's Station" and was named after Ivah and Johannah Hamilton in 1874.

The area was renamed Buck Meadows in 1916 and was soon bustling because of the building of the Hetchy Dam. A construction camp was located in Buck Meadows for the several hundred hard rock miners working on the railroad tunnels.

Today Buck Meadows is still a stop off on the way to Yosemite Village. The town is about half way between Groveland and the Yosemite gate right on Highway 120. Buck Meadows lies on the western most border of Yosemite National Park.
