Battery Point Lighthouse |
The Battery Point Light was first lit on December 10th, 1856. The lighthouse now stands as the fifth oldest lighthouse on the West Coast. It was automated in 1953, and then discontinued altogether in 1965. In 1982 it was later reopened, and the light once again began to shine.
From Highway 101, turn west onto Front Street to its end, then left onto A Street for 2 blocks to the parking area. The lighthouse is on a small island that cannot be reached at high tide.
The lighthouse hours are 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Wednesday - Sunday, April - September, tides permitting.
